Kalbarri National park is very scenic with high & low river gorges, sea cliffs and rolling sand plains. Kalbarri National Park is the result of years of geological formation. Beneath the countryside, the geology consists of deep, horizontal bands of multi-coloured sands that were deposited in layers 400 million years ago. The result is Tumblagooda Sandstone. The Murchison River carves its way to the sea. The gorges meander 80 kilometres through the 186,000 hectare park.
